march spiritual letter

Joshua 1:1-9 MSG

“After the death of Moses the servant of God, God spoke to Joshua, Moses’ assistant: “Moses my servant is dead. Get going. Cross this Jordan River, you and all the people. Cross to the country I’m giving to the People of Israel. I’m giving you every square inch of the land you set your foot on—just as I promised Moses. From the wilderness and this Lebanon east to the Great River, the Euphrates River—all the Hittite country—and then west to the Great Sea. It’s all yours. All your life, no one will be able to hold out against you. In the same way I was with Moses, I’ll be with you. I won’t give up on you; I won’t leave you. Strength! Courage! You are going to lead this people to inherit the land that I promised to give their ancestors. Give it everything you have, heart and soul. Make sure you carry out The Revelation that Moses commanded you, every bit of it. Don’t get off track, either left or right, so as to make sure you get to where you’re going. And don’t for a minute let this Book of The Revelation be out of mind. Ponder and meditate on it day and night, making sure you practice everything written in it. Then you’ll get where you’re going; then you’ll succeed. Haven’t I commanded you? Strength! Courage! Don’t be timid; don’t get discouraged. God, your God, is with you every step you take.””

In the month of March, God intends for you to have everything He has purposed for your life.

In this text, we find that Moses has passed away and Joshua is now in charge. The mantle has been placed upon him. Everything Joshua learned while serving under Moses was now the very thing he had to put into practice.

God speaks to Joshua and reminds him that the promise did not die with Moses. What God spoke before still stands. The assignment is still active, and the promise will still be fulfilled.

Joshua surely experienced grief. Losing a mentor, a leader, and someone close to him could have easily delayed his progress. But Joshua understood the responsibility that had been entrusted to him. The promise still had to be realized by the people of Israel.

The Lord told Joshua that every inch of the land would be given into their hands.

And that same word is for you in this season.

No matter the loss, God still intends to do exactly what He said He would do. His plans are not canceled by grief, abandonment, disappointment, or lack. What God promised still belongs to you.

He will make sure you see it through to the end.

God also gave Joshua clear direction:
Meditate on His Word day and night and live according to it.

The same instruction applies to us today. When we keep God’s Word before us and walk according to it, we position ourselves to experience the promises of God.

Then Joshua would succeed.

God told him to be strong, to be courageous, and not to be afraid or discouraged. Joshua was not walking into the promise alone, God was with him every step of the way.

And the same is true for you.

God is with you. Strengthen yourself. Be courageous. Stay in His Word.

What He promised, He still intends to fulfill.
